Visit the International Civil Rights Center & Museum housed at the historic Woolworth Building in downtown Greensboro. The Museum honors the four North Carolina A&T State University students whose protest launched the national civil rights sit-in movement. The Museum also serves as an archival center as well as a museum and teaching facility devoted to the international struggle for civil and human rights that were impacted by the nonviolent protests of the Greensboro sit-ins. The centerpiece of the International Civil Rights Center & Museum is the historic lunch counter and the original stools where four NC A&T freshmen sat down in nonviolent protest.

Step back in time at the Greensboro Historical Museum. See what 19th-centry life was like through the lives of area natives O. Henry and former first lady Dolley Madison. Stop in the Greensboro Children’s Museum, an entertaining, interactive hands-on museum for children and their families. Visitors learn while they imagine, touch, create and play in the museum’s educational exhibits.

Stroll through the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, honoring the site of the March 15, 1781 Battle of Guilford Courthouse. Visitors can view informational outdoor exhibits and monuments. Indoor activates include a 30-minute live-action film (shown on the hour); an animated battle map program, and Revolutionary War museum exhibits.

For young science lovers, there’s no better place than the Natural Science Center of Greensboro. This interactive museum features a dinosaur gallery, petting zoo, herpetarium with snakes and amphibians and a variety of exciting traveling exhibits. In addition the Animal Discovery Zoological Park features tigers, wallabies, holler monkeys and more, up close and personal. A new, state of the art, 360 degree OmniSphere total immersion theater features four different shows every day – the first of its kind in the US.
