Event
Schedule is Out!
U.S. Figure Skating has released the event schedule for the
2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships . The eight-day event
features 19 ticketed competition sessions as well as the Skating
Spectacular.
This year, the ice dancing competition will feature the "short
dance," which takes the place of the compulsory and original
dances.
Those who have purchased All-Event Ticket Packages and
Mini-Packages have seen the value of their purchases expand with the
new schedule. For example, All-Event Packages, which were previously
expected to include 15 competition sessions, now include 19
competition sessions . This now means a savings of more
than 15% off projected individual ticket prices for U.S. Figure
Skating fans.

Greensboro City and Business Support
The City of Greensboro has generously agreed to support the
2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships by assisting with the
costs associated in providing police and firefighter service for the
event.
"With an event of this magnitude, every cost savings is beneficial
and greatly appreciated," said Hill Carrow, chairman for the
2011 U.S. Championships. The city's Coliseum Complex is already a
strong partner, and having the city of Greensboro step up with
additional support will help ensure the success of the
Championships."
In an effort to keep key business leaders in Greensboro apprised of the
progress of the 2011 U.S. Championships, the local organizing committee
(LOC) presented an update at the July meeting of the Board of Directors
of the Greensboro Partnership. Chip Hagan, lead partner at Hagan
Davis Mangum & Barrett, the 2011 U.S. Championships official
local legal services provider, gave the update, and encouraged
participation and support by Partnership Board members.
Tim Rice, CEO of Moses Cone Health Systems , the 2011 U.S.
Championships official local medical services provider, echoed Hagan's
remarks and emphasized the importance of support from the Greensboro
business community to the overall success of the Championships.

Operations
and Volunteer Activities
With less than six months to go until the 2011 U.S. Championships, the
operations department is shifting its activities into high gear.
Representatives from Ice Rink Events, the official local supplier of
the two temporary ice rinks for the Championships, stopped by for a
tour of the Coliseum Complex. In addition, the Opening Ceremonies
Committee, FanFest Committee, Volunteer Committee and
Host Committee have all convened during the last month to work on
timelines and deliverables. These are just a small number of the
overall committees required to pull off a successful Championship.
The 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships' local organizing
committee is fortunate to have Dare London serving as volunteer
coordinator for the event. Dare London serves in a similar capacity
for the annual Wyndham Championships. This Professional Golfers'
Association (PGA) tournament, held annually in Greensboro, utilizes
more than 1,600 volunteers. Bonnie Boaz, a long-time figure skating
coach and event organizer at Central Carolina Figure Skating Club,
is coordinating figure skating-specific volunteer committees such as
ice monitors and ice sweeper monitors.
Applications are still encouraged and welcomed for 2011 U.S.
Championship volunteers.
