Sponsors Sign Up

Several recent sponsor announcements reflect the growing involvement and major support of the business community which is so essential to the success of the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Lowes Foods has become the first Presenting Sponsor of the Championships. Presenting Sponsors are the highest level of local sponsorship for the event. Lowes Foods, a major retail grocery company headquartered in Winston-Salem, is known for its emphasis on quality and price. With its more than 100 stores in the Carolinas, Lowes Foods will give the U.S. Championships a strong statewide presence.

In addition to Lowes Foods, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, host venue for the event, has become a major sponsor. Other key sponsors include Graphic Visual Solutions, which as official printer is meeting the 2011 Championships printing and graphic needs.

The Championships will benefit from a triumvirate of professionals handling the event's marketing and communications. BEM Interactive of Greensboro is providing all web and online marketing; MediaFit of Lewisville is responsible for all marketing, advertising, and design; and Annese Public Relations of Winston-Salem is providing public relations and communications services.

Ice Rink Events, provider of the practice ice rink, has been named an Official Supplier.

The 2011 Championships Headquarters hotel, the 1000-room Sheraton Greensboro, is now at capacity.

To help provide additional hotel rooms for spectators, North Carolina 2011 is happy to announce the addition of the Greensboro Airport Marriott as an Official Hotel. The Greensboro Airport Marriott is a newly-remodeled, full-service hotel that is located just 10 minutes from the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The Airport Marriott will have shuttle service available between the hotel and the Coliseum Complex during competition hours of the U.S. Championships.

Out and About

The 2011 U.S. Championships local staff and volunteers are working hard to get the word out on the big event.

Hill Carrow, NC 2011 Chairman, was working the crowd at the State Games of North Carolina Figure Skating competition held May 30 at Extreme Ice in Charlotte. A record-breaking 180 skaters competed.

The Liberty, held in Aston, Pennsylvania (outside of Philadelphia) July 15-18, is one of the largest figure skating events on the east coast, featuring over 800 skaters. Faryn Driscoll, NC 2011 Director of Operations, was there manning a booth and holding a raffle for tickets to the 2011 Championships. Ana Draovitch of Raleigh and Beuhlah Mitchell of Norfolk were the big winners.

This week in Greensboro, Nicole Stalker, Figure Skating Director at the Greensboro Ice House, is scheduled to lead the volunteers staffing the NC 2011 booth at the Greensboro Grasshoppers Christmas in July night (July 25), the Demi Lovato concert at the Greensboro Coliseum (July 29), and the American Idols Tour at the Coliseum (August 1).

Also on Saturday, August 1, Paul Wylie will be featured at a figure skating clinic at the Wilmington Ice House in Wilmington, NC. He will be joined afterwards by Hill Carrow, NC 2011 Chairman, to discuss the 2011 Championships with parents and community attendees. The event is being coordinated by Ana Boudreau, head of the Port City Figure Skating Club, and is open to the public.
