Grassroots Marketing Picks Up Pace
With less than 8 months to go to the 2011 US Figure Skating Championships, the pace of grassroots marketing and special events has picked up significantly. Since our May Newsletter, our marketing team has promoted the 2011 US Championships at the following events:
- Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce Business Expo - Winston-Salem, NC
- Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - Winston-Salem, NC
- Tanglewood Steeplechase - Clemmons, NC
- Downtown Greensboro Beach Music Concert - Greensboro, NC
- Alamance Sports Council - Burlington, NC
- Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Business Expo - Greensboro, NC
- Martina McBride Concert - Greensboro, NC
- Dogwood Festival - Fayetteville, NC
- Southern Women's Show - Raleigh, NC
- State Games of North Carolina Figure Skating Competition - Charlotte, NC

Official Supplier Ranks Grow
Four new Official Suppliers have joined the 2011 US Figure Skating Championships corporate support team. The new Suppliers are Pepsi Bottling Ventures of Raleigh, NC; Joshua Jewel of Orlando, FL; Exact Target of Indianapolis, IN; and LSK Enterprises of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pepsi Bottling Ventures is providing a variety of beverage products for athletes and officials and will do a multi-million can promotion across the Carolinas in November. Joshua Jewel is featuring its trend-inspired skating apparel including custom-designed figure skating dresses for performance and practice wear. Exact Target is powering the email marketing for the 2011 Championships with its robust email marketing platform. LSK Enterprises is providing state-of-the-art Olympia ice resurfacing machines to help maintain the three ice sheets at the Championships.
"All of our Official Suppliers are helping us meet critical needs for the Championships," said Hill Carrow, local organizing committee chairman, "so we are extremely grateful for their support."

FOX8 Joins
Media Partner Team
WGHP-TV Fox8
in High Point, NC, has become a Diamond Media & Marketing Partner for the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Fox8's participation as a top level media partner will enhance the reach and depth of the 2011 US Championships extensive marketing and advertising campaign.
According to the most recent Nielsen ratings, WGHP-TV is the highest rated Fox station in the country. "We're considered the community television station in the Triad," said Karen Adams, general manager of WGHP-TV Fox8, "so it was a natural for us to support the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. We are very proud of our No. 1 rating and look forward to leveraging that position for our station and the U.S. Championships."
Recent Fox8 figure skating coverage has included interviews with Olympic Figure Skating stars Meryl Davis, Charlie White, Mirai Nagasu, and Rachel Flatt; and a feature on the 2011 US Figure Skating Championships Sweeper Auditions. The Sweeper story can be viewed on the 2011 US Championships You Tube Channel.

U.S. Championships
Volunteers Get Support
The projected 500 volunteers for the 2011 US Figure Skating Championships now have their very own sponsor for the big event. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) has become a Silver Sponsor for the 2011 US Championships and Official Sponsor for the Championships' volunteers.
"We are particularly excited to be supporting the hundreds of volunteers of the 2011 Championships," said Kathy Higgins, vice president for community relations at BCBSNC. "Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans to involve many of its Triad-based employees in the volunteer effort to help ensure the success of the Championships."
