The Greensboro Sports Commission (GSC) fosters local economic development by promoting Greensboro as a leading site for youth, amateur, collegiate and professional sports events. In 2006, the GSC helped host back-to-back-to-back college basketball tournaments, with 28 games played over 10 days in the ACC Women's Tournament, ACC Men's Tournament and the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. More than 700 volunteers were coordinated to help with this effort. Key executives of the GSCO involved in the LOC are Kim Strable, president, Demp Bradford, director of sports Events, and Camille Townsend, office manager.
The Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau established and operates the Housing Bureau for the 2011 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Key GCVB executives involved in the LOC are Henri Fourrier, president; Ava Pope, director of sales; and Brian Ambuehl, sports sales manager.
The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, owned and operated by the City of Greensboro, is a first-class venue with extensive experience in hosting major sporting events. A former host of the NCAA Final Four and almost yearly host of ACC and NCAA Championship basketball, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex has a great history of hosting major sporting events.
Though still in the formative stages, the North Carolina Figure Skating Association is intended to facilitate cooperation and coordination among N.C. figure skating clubs for the benefit of the sport and athletes in North Carolina and support of the 2011 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
Sports & Properties, Inc. (SPI) is directing the management of the 2011 U.S. Championships. SPI is a Cary-based sports and entertainment marketing, consulting, and event management firm. Hill Carrow, SPI's CEO, is serving as chair of the LOC while Faryn Driscoll, SPI's Client Services Manager, is serving as director of operations.
