Three Mini-Packages On Sale Now

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for figure skating fans as three new ticket packages for the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships went on sale.

The Championship Weekend Package begins at just $109 and includes tickets to all Senior-level final sessions, Friday-Sunday, including the Skating Spectacular.  The Matinee Package begins at just $79 and includes tickets to all daytime sessions from the first Sunday through Friday, featuring novice, junior, and senior preliminary skating.  The Evening Package also begins at just $79, and includes tickets to all evening sessions from the first Sunday through Thursday, featuring novice, junior, and senior preliminary skating, as well as Opening Ceremonies.

To promote the launch of the new packages, Paul Wylie, the 2011 U.S. Championships Honorary Chairman and Olympic Silver Medalist, gave WXII-TV morning traffic broadcaster Jennie Stencil a 5:45 a.m. skating lesson that was featured on WXII’s morning show.  “Skaters are always at the rink before the crack of dawn,” said Paul Wylie, “so it was a great addition to the morning routine to be able to work with Jenny and promote ticket sales for Nationals.”

Nancy Kerrigan to Skate in Greensboro on December 18th

While everyone is getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas, the really big news for the holidays is that Nancy Kerrigan, two time Olympic medalist, and a household name in the sport of figure skating, will be appearing in the Sealy/Fox 8 Holiday Concert at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, Friday, December 18, at 7:30 p.m.  Nancy will be joined for the concert’s final number by Paul Wylie.

The Holiday Concert is part of an annual food drive for the local Salvation Army.  Admission to both parking and the concert is free with a canned food item.  In 2008, there were approximately 10,000 attendees and over 640,000 cans donated.  “We are thrilled that Nancy Kerrigan is going to skate at the Holiday Concert,” said Karen Adams, President and GM of Fox 8/WGHP.  “Our hope is more people will come, bringing more food cans, and helping more families.”

Nancy Kerrigan and Paul Wylie’s participation in the Concert is made possible by the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.  “We see it as a way to do something great for the community,” said Hill Carrow, Chairman of the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, “and to promote the 2011 Championships at the same time.  To have two silver medalists on the ice will take the Holiday Concert to a whole new level.”

North Carolina 2011 Presence at Skate America

The International Skating Union’s Grand Prix Series had its U.S. stop in Lake Placid, NY, over the weekend of November 13-15.  Faryn Driscoll, Director of Operations for the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, was on site in Lake Placid answering questions, selling tickets, and otherwise promoting the 2011 Championships.

“It was a good audience,” said Driscoll.  “There were lots of east coast figure skating fans in attendance and there was a great deal of interest in coming to Greensboro because of our east coast location.”

North Carolina’s own Denise Williamson of the Carolinas Figure Skating Club in Charlotte was at Skate America to help choreograph the opening of Skating Spectacular.  Denise directed over 100 skaters of all ability levels for the well-received opening number.

Skyline Exhibits and Events Becomes a Sponsor

Skyline Exhibits & Events is the latest company to join the sponsor ranks for the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.  Skyline is providing four attractive banner stands and an attention - getting tabletop display to assist the 2011 U.S. Championships’ marketing and promotional efforts.

“We first deployed the banner stands at Skate America and got very positive comments from fans,” said Hill Carrow, 2011 Championships Chair.  “They looked great and give us the flexibility to promote at several locations simultaneously.”

Skyline specializes in innovative exhibit systems.  Skyline’s North Carolina headquarters is in Greensboro, and the company also has offices in the Triangle area and Charlotte.

Michael Criscuolo, Skyline’s Vice President of Operations, citing his company’s location in Greensboro, said “With the U.S. Figure Skating Championships at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, the event is a natural for our support.  Skyline’s products will help call attention to, build strong awareness of, and create loyal fans for, the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.”
