NBC To Broadcast 2011 U.S. Championships
NBC has now been confirmed as the national broadcaster for the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Greensboro. NBC, also known as the "Olympic Network" due to their long-standing coverage of the Olympic Games, has renewed its national contract with U.S. Figure Skating through 2014.

As a result, the 2011 Championships in North Carolina will receive at least 10 hours of national network coverage. Also NBC will provide additional coverage of the Championships on its cable network NBC Universal.

"We stand to benefit from NBC's partnership with U.S. Figure Skating as early as the beginning of this coming year when NBC broadcasts at least 12 hours of coverage from the 2010 U.S. Championships in January in Spokane, followed by an incredible number of hours of network figure skating coverage from the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada in February," said Hill Carrow, Chairman of the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

"We're pleased to continue the great relationship with NBC," said David Raith, executive director of U.S. Figure Skating. "We appreciate the support of Dick Ebersol, the chairman of NBC Universal Sports and Olympics, as well as Jon Miller, executive vice president of NBC Sports, for making figure skating a broadcast priority."

October Ticket Special

North Carolina 2011, Local Organizing Committee for the 2011 U.S. Championships, is featuring an October "So Good It's Scary" special on purchases of All-Event Ticket Packages. The promotion will only take effect when NC 2011 has 500 followers on Twitter. With over 250 followers already, NC 2011 is halfway towards reaching its goal. But we need everyone not yet following North Carolina 2011 on twitter to join the team by going to www.twitter.com/nc2011.

From October 1 to October 31, every All-Event Ticket Package purchased is 15% off. This means $795 Packages are now $675.75, $495 Packages are now $420.75, $295 Packages are now $250.75, and $225 Packages are only $191.25.

As an additional incentive to ticket purchasers, North Carolina 2011 is giving away some special prizes. The 1st, 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, and 50th All-Event Ticket Packages purchased in October will receive either an Alissa Czisny or Meryl Davis/Charlie White autographed copy of Skating Magazine with their respective photos on the cover. Alissa Czisny is the current national Ladies champion while Meryl Davis and Charlie White are America’s reigning Ice Dancing champions.

2011 Championships Expanding Presence

Thanks to the donation of a display booth by the Greensboro Coliseum Complex and design work by MediaFit, the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships will now have an attractive, permanent booth on the concourse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex for all Coliseum events.

Nicole Stalker, Figure Skating Director of the Greensboro Ice House, has been recruiting volunteers to man the booth. Volunteers hand out literature and answer questions about the 2011 U.S. Championships.

Upcoming shows targeted by our NC 2011 Booth Team include Chris Daughtry and Miley Cyrus concerts, as well as Disney on Ice performances.

In the Field

Hill Carrow, NC 2011 Chairman, attended the U.S. Olympic Committee's Olympic SportsLink conference in Chicago in early September. The conference was held in conjunction with the U.S. Olympic Media Summit where athletes expected to compete in the upcoming Vancouver Winter Olympic Games were doing a series of media interviews.

While at the conference, Hill visited with current World Champion Evan Lysacek who promised he would be in North Carolina in 2011, and he attended a U.S .Figure Skating reception where national champions Alissa Czisny (ladies), and Meryl Davis & Charlie White (ice dancing) were the featured guests. Hill worked the crowd of U.S. Figure Skating patrons in attendance to secure commitments to come to North Carolina for the 2011 Championships.

Meanwhile Faryn Driscoll entertained the Forsyth Rotary Club on September 17 with a program on the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The Winston-Salem Rotarians are very enthusiastic about the big event and promised to help spread the word.

Upcoming NC 2011 civic club presentations in October include talks in Raleigh, Durham, Winston-Salem, and Greensboro.
